Hey folks, Just an update as to what is happening in my life as of late. Los Angeles just had a major heat wave introducing the 1st day of Summer, and while I was very dissapointed in missing Jazz Week...had I gone I would have been in trouble as we had a False Alarm with what we thought was Vickie going into labor last Thursday. 24-25 hours later (ughh) they sent us home. I'm thinking of putting a speaker to Vickie's stomach with the Sex Pistols blaring to try and scare our little Evie out! We'll see.
On the Jazz front, some fun Summer CD's on deck that I'm enjoying is Dr. Michael White and The Hot Club of Detroit. Both trad in nature, these are great for sittin' round the BBQ w/friends and family. You also can't go wrong with Two Men Meet the Blues-Wynton/Willie.
I may be out of the office soon on Paternity leave...but I'll let everyone know the news as soon as it comes!

| 05/06/2008 Hi folks, it's been a long time coming, but I'm am finally here writing my first Blog for the New and improved Groov Marketing Website. I must admit how happy I am with the result and credit my business partner Mark for getting the ball rolling with it. As you can see, there are many nice features including an artist spotlight page which will be in constant flux featuring the many killer artists we are fortunate to represent every week.
On a personal note, many of you know that my wife Vickie is pregnant and is due June 28th with our first child, Evie Lee Ellman. (A Girl) We are excited and freaked out at the same time, but like everything...all will work out just fine I am sure. We just had a HUGE CO-ED baby shower with over 100 people in attendance this past weekend. (More like a party) and were just blown away by the amount of support we have from everyone we know and love.
As for me....I've been involved in a new Motown/Northern soul inspired Soul group. The past several months have been dedicated to woodshedding and getting our rhythm section tight. (Yours truly is singing and playing guitar) We are focusing primarily on originals, but have a few covers as well, including:
The Contours-"Just a Little Misunderstanding"
The Prisoners-"Broken Pieces"
Billy Ocean-"Love Really Hurts Without You"
The Incredibles-"There's Nothing Else To Say" -Which is a total rip off of The Four Tops "Something About You" and "Reach Out (I'll Be There)" A STOMPER NEVER-THE-LESS
100% Proof Aged in Soul-"Somebody's been sleeping in My Bed"
Check em' out on You Tube. They are great tunes!
On the Groov side....two personal favs include Amos Hoffman's Evolution w/Avishai Cohen on Bass. If you are a fan of Middle Eastern inspired Jazz...check this out immediately! Also...if you've been late to Add Sam Barsh...you still can catch the train. This is a funky, fun side that will showcase well in both Jazz and Alternative programs. "Plans Change" is theee tune!
Thanks for reading and I'll start contributing on a more regular basis!
Hasta -Josh
