Chicago, IL, Feb 4, 2026. Trumpeter and band leader Sam Robinson’s latest album Chasin’ the Dream will be released on Friday, February 27, via Miles High Records, the label founded by jazz musician, author, and educator Mark Sherman.
Chasin’ the Dream follows Robinson’s 2019 debut Sweet Love of Mine, 2022’s Be With Me: Live at the Eastgate Café, and 2023’s Third Time’s a Charm and is his first album of all original compositions.
Featuring Robinson on trumpet, Scott Angst on tenor sax, Aaron Krings on bass, Jack Macklin on guitar, and Chase Wilkins on drums, Chasin’ the Dream brings the type of energy and passion that only a well-seasoned quintet can deliver.
Chasin’ the Dream, which was engineered by Erik Rasmussen and tracked, mixed, and mastered at Palisade Studios in Chicago, comes barreling out of the gate with focus track “The Gatekeeper” and finds its pace with “Big C’s Chart.” The ultra-groovy “Leia” is driven by Krings’ fine bass work, while “Sam’s Dig” shines a spotlight on Wilkins’ drumming.
“Brian’s Tune” flirts with fusion and post-rock while album closer “Bienvenue” showcases Robinson’s airy trumpet, Angst’s warm tenor sax, and Macklin’s dexterous guitar work.
The Sam Robinson Quintet will be celebrating the release of Chasin’ the Dream at esteemed listening room and top-tier jazz venue, Le Piano, in their hometown of Chicago on Saturday, April 4, 2026, and are looking forward to booking dates to support the release throughout the year.
